Fulton Homes Fence Patrol Program Returns
for 17th Consecutive Year

Tempe-based homebuilder will provide 15 pool fences
throughout the summer to those in need

Elisa and Justin Hart were in the living room talking with Elisa's mom when they realized their son, Eric, was not around. The search for Eric began in the house, but he was nowhere to be seen. Elisa thought that she should look in the backyard and ran outside to look for him, when she found Eric the middle of the pool. Elisa was recalling the incident, "I called for my husband who had jumped into the pool, dragged Eric out and had started performing CPR before medics arrived. He was flown to Phoenix Children's Hospital where they tried to save him for an hour and a half, but it was unsuccessful." It is horrible incidents such as the loss of Eric that motivates Fulton Homes to bring back Fence Patrol, Arizona's most known water safety program, for its 17th year.

Over the last 20 years, Fulton Homes has invested over $2.5 million on water safety in the valley. "Fulton Homes strongly believes that even close calls can be avoided when the community as a whole puts an emphasis on water safety. We started our Fence Patrol program 17 years ago to put more protective fences around pools in hopes of making Valley families safer," Doug Fulton, CEO of Fulton Homes, said. "The dangers are real, and we want to continue doing everything we can to prevent another family tragedy. One is one too many." Fence Patrol highlights the importance of always watching children around water, and acts as a reminder that water emergencies can happen in seconds.

The first of 15 Fence Patrol installs takes place on April 30th and will be given to Valley residents in need of the life-saving protection that a pool fence provides.

This year A Safe Pool has joined the program as the new fence provider. They specialize in mesh pool fences which have become very popular.

The program, conducted in partnership with KMLE 107.9 and A Safe Pool, will give away one pool fence a week to families in need through August. The public will be encouraged to nominate someone they know that needs a pool fence by visiting KMLE 1079.com and clicking on the Fence Patrol icon. This year, those who are interested in the cause of water safety will be able to make a direct monetary donation to Fence Patrol by clicking on the Fulton Homes Foundation link on the KMLE website.

The Tempe-based homebuilder also sponsors the "2 Seconds is Too Long" campaign, which raises awareness to watch children around the pool and gives away free swim lessons.
