Fulton Homes' Operation K9 Companion Honors
First Veteran Recipient of 2025

Fulton Homes' Operation K9 Companion program, in collaboration with Soldier's Best Friend and 94.5 KOOL FM, kicks off its third year by honoring the first veteran recipient of 2025. Paul Brower and his new service dog Dixie, will be recognized during a special ceremony on Wednesday, June 25th at 8:00 AM at Soldier's Best Friend training facility in Peoria. This ongoing initiative is dedicated to supporting local veterans by pairing them with trained, rescue service dogs to assist with physical and emotional disabilities.

Paul, a U.S. Navy veteran who served during the Gulf War, lives with PTSD as a result of his service. He will be paired with Dixie, a pup specially trained to provide companionship and support for his own routines and daily life.

During the ceremony, Paul will be joined by an Operation K9 Companion recipient from the 2024 program, Carolyn Reyes. A Marine Corps veteran who served from 1984–1992 in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, Carolyn, lives with a traumatic brain injury and was paired with her service dog, Nadji last September. This month, she officially graduated from the training program, ready to move forward with her loyal companion by her side.

"I'm proud of the program we've built with Operation K9 Companion and to see the stories of transformation from program participants, like Carolyn, fuel our unwavering commitment to those who have served this great nation."

The program provides more than $25,000 in training and support per recipient, including a fully trained service dog, personalized instructors at the Soldier's Best Friend campus, a $250 PetSmart gift card, and a custom-built doghouse.
