Reminds Pet Owners Never to Leave Their
Canine Pal in a Hot Car

The Tempe-based homebuilder partnered with the Gilbert Fire Department
to bring awareness to dangers of scorching summer temperatures

Fulton Homes has partnered with radio station KMLE and Gilbert Fire Department in their "Don't Fur-Get Your Pet" campaign to educate Valley pet owners of just how hazardous leaving furry friends in the car can be. Arizona summers can result in searing temperatures, and PETA reports that 60 pets die each year as a result of being left in the car, which is why Fulton Homes will be hosting a remote this Friday, July 26th from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Fry's Marketplace, 1845 E Baseline Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85233 to increase awareness. Running a speedy errand like grabbing coffee or making a deposit at the bank can quickly turn fatal for pets left in hot vehicles, which some pet owners may not even realize. This misunderstanding is what encouraged Fulton Homes to design a fun and educational program for Valley residents, and to reinforce the importance of keeping pets cool during summer months.

CEO of Fulton Homes and proud animal-lover, Doug Fulton explains that this public service campaign with KMLE is designed to raise awareness for valley residents on the impacts that our actions can have on our canine friends. "We love our families and we love our dogs," said Fulton. "People simply don't understand that it takes mere minutes for a dog to begin suffering from heatstroke or brain damage while being left in the car, even if the windows are partially down or the car is parked in the shade."

On the last Friday of summer months, radio host Nina D of KMLE 107.9 and homebuilder Fulton Homes will be hosting remotes where attendees will learn tips on how to keep their pets cool, take home a free portable water bowl for their lucky pet and, at this remote, can even meet Arizona's only fire dog, Spring! Additionally throughout the summer, KMLE will be announcing on-air tips for Valley pet-owners on ways to keep their furry friends cool.

Nina D, owner of three adorable rescue dogs and host of 107.9 KMLE from 1 pm until 7 pm, explains the impact that this promotion is going to have. "What I have found that really sticks with me is that we really connect to other people through our dogs. The American Veterinary Medical Association has found that hundreds of pets die or experience permanent damage every year from being left in a hot car," says Nina. "It is very important that we spread the message about how warm the inside of a car can get even with mild outdoor temperatures," she continued.
