Home Buying Decisions

Animals' needs are being put first in the real estate process

Fulton Homes' spacious lots and green communities influence pet conscious home buyers to purchase homes with necessary space. Pet ownership is soaring, with 11.38 million U.S. households acquiring a new pet during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent 2021 Zillow data suggest that pandemic pet ownership increased significantly among home buyers, influencing the types of homes they are more likely to purchase. Zillow found that 57% of buyers have at least one dog, 39% have at least one cat and 15% have another kind of pet.

"New home buyers are looking for homes and neighborhoods that accommodate their animals," said Doug Fulton, CEO of Fulton Homes. "We're proud to have pet-friendly neighborhoods that feature private backyards and community parks with plenty of space for your animal to enjoy themselves."

Homeowners are showing a willingness to move for their pet. According to Zillow, 73% of buyers with pets consider private outdoor space very or extremely important compared to non-pet owners. Home buyers with pets are more likely to purchase larger properties that include multiple bedrooms, with 36% of pet owners purchasing a home with four bedrooms or more.

Arizona's largest family-owned and -operated homebuilder prioritizes pets in their building efforts, with master-planned communities in Gilbert, Goodyear, Queen Creek, San Tan and Surprise. Fulton Homes communities like Barney Farms and Escalante offer parks, open spaces, walking trails and private backyards. With pet owners raising the demand for larger homes, the homebuilder designs homes up to 2,650 square feet equipped with guest suites and extra rooms.
